Out-of-Home Campaigns

Campaign 1: OOH campaigns for the Netflix show “Cowboy Bebop” (2021) in the form of a billboard, subway and building. We were to design 3 type focused concepts and to create mockups of the final design with 3 copylines. The final copy line chosen was “3…2…1…LET’S JAZZ!” from the show’s opening theme “TANK!”.

Building Mockup

Subway Mockup

Concept 1: TANK!

4 billboards displayed one after another with each character and show title and streaming service reveal.

Concept 2: Colored Blocks

Extension billboard - this design would have opaque blocked colors whose colors change as sun rays bounce of its color.

Concept 3: Space + Bebop

Extension billboard - this design would feature stars that shine through special material and would have the Bebop ship attached to its top as if flying through space. This design features a special typeface I designed and created called “Jupiter Jazz”.

The Making of…

The original animated series, “Cowboy Bebop” (1998), is a sci-fi western that is heavily influenced by Jazz music. Thus I took inspiration from flyers and posters of jazz albums and events and noted their use of squares, rectangles and blocky shapes in both key art and typography.

Fig. 1 The show’s famous opening titles also features these visual motifs while inserting their characters into their shapes and sticking to primary colors.

Some copy lines considered for the campaign.

See you, Space Cowboy.

A new genre…Cowboy Bebop.

Back on the Bebop.

Hot can be cool, and cool can be hot…But Bebop is Bebop.

Out-of-Home Campaigns

Campaign 2: Wild posting to advertise the film “Dream Scenario” (2023). I illustrated 6 versions of Nicolas Cage with a copy line inviting audiences to investigate the film’s backstory through socials.

My concept is inspired by an experiment called “This Man” where people found posters of a man with a strange face plastered on the streets with the question “Ever dreamed this man?”.

Inspiration

When I first saw the trailer to “Dream Scenario” I thought it was inspired by “This Man”. As far as I know, this has not been verified. The mystery and internet sleuthing the experiment caused is still discussed today, despite it being debunked as a myth and hoax. I think it would’ve been great to do the same for “Dream Scenario”.
